We tell you how to get from the new Istanbul airport to the city center quickly and cheaply.
The new Istanbul airport – Istanbul Yeni Havalimani – began operating in test mode on October 29, 2018.
It is located 35 kilometers from the city and about 60 kilometers from Sultanahmet district.
From April 5-7, 2019, the new Istanbul Airport accepts all flights that previously arrived at Ataturk Airport. The old airport no longer serves passenger planes.
Please note: Sabiha Gokcen Airport, which mainly accepts low-cost airlines and charter flights, operates in the same mode. Read how to get from Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul.
The fastest and most convenient way to get from Istanbul’s new airport to the city center is by taxi or transfer.
Turkish taxi drivers often wind up the price of the trip, and sometimes they manage to do it even when traveling by the meter.
Therefore, it is better to choose a transfer – its cost is known in advance, and you will definitely not pay more.
Advantages of this method:
- faster than a bus: the travel time to the center of Istanbul is 50-60 minutes, it will be delivered directly to the hotel, you will not need to walk or change to public transport
the driver knows the route in advance – he will not look for the right address and drive in circles - the cost of the trip is fixed, you will know it even during the order
