Petrified Forest National Park offers a fascinating journey into Arizona’s ancient past. The park is famous for enormous deposits of petrified wood created when prehistoric trees were buried and gradually replaced by minerals. Colorful badlands, fossils, archaeological sites and scenic viewpoints add to the experience. The park is located along historic Route 66 and makes an excellent stop on an Arizona road trip.
