Egklouvi: It is the most mountainous village on the island. It is built above Karya village, at the central mountainous Lefkada., on small hills, at an altitude of 730m. It has kept its traditional character, since most of the houses here are made by stone.
Fokotrypa: Fokotrypa (Seal Hole) is a small sea cave, located a little to the north of the port of Kastos, at Aghios Emilianos. It is around 30m. deep with a little sand within it. From its name, you can conclude that in the past seals would seek refuge here.
Old olive presses at Dragano and Vournika: They have been considered as remarkable samples of pre-industrial and historically preserved monuments. Here the process of the olives and the production of olive oil was achieved manually or with the help of a horse.
Old watermill at Syrvos: It operates as a watermill and as a café, too.
Papanikolis cave: It is the largest cave of Meganissi and it is located at its southwestern edge. It was made famous and its name was taken from the Greek submarine “Papanikolis”. During the World War II, this is where the submarine used to hide. The cave is about a 45 minute boat trip from Nydri and probably you will have the chance to go swimming here. However, as it is so popular, if there are too many boats you will just stop outside of the cave.
Pine forest at Kalamos: This pine forest is one of the rarest. Another, you will meet, probably, only in Sporades islands, in the Aegean. It is a thick forest, green, alive and habitat for many species of birds.
Ronies waterfalls at Dimosaris: Ronies are the waterfalls, near Rahi village, 4km far from Nydri. To get here, you have to go to Nydri and, by following the yellow signs, take the road to Rahi, until you overpass the public stadium of Nydri. The route from Nydri to Rahi is through olive groves and gardens. From Rahi, although, until the waterfalls, the scenery changes, the road is along Dimosaris river. When you get close to the waterfalls, the road stops and you have to walk. Here, you will find a coffee shop under a huge tree and you can buy water or whatever you need. If you are lucky and the “pools” are full of water, you can swim, too.
Spanohori: It is one of the oldest villages of Lefkada. Together with the villages Lazarata, Pinakohori, Kavalos and Asprogerakata constitute the municipality of Sfakiotes. The picturesque Spanohori, with vivid planting, offers a wonderful panoramic view to Lefkada and the Ionian Sea.
Traditional winery of Lambikos: It is a traditional winery at Karya, the Lambikos winery. It makes tsipouro, from the dregs of the grapes. The “lambikos” was a handy device in which double distillation took place so that only the pure tsipouro would remain. It included a cauldron with a pipe and tub.
Vafkeri: It is a picturesque mountainous village, with beautiful green environment, stone houses and wonderful view to the islands Skorpios, Madouri, Meganissi, as well as the traditional villages of the mountainous Lefkada. It has a very good clima and it is ideal for trekking, joking, painting etc. From here, you can go to every part on the island, since it is located at the centre of Lefkada.
Windmills at Kastos: The windmills are an important sight on Kastos island and, as is the case everywhere else, they are all private. It is said that one of the windmills has been preserved with its motor intact and it is quite probable that this is the best preserved one in the whole of the Ionian Sea region. It operated until 1949. Another windmill stands on the hill above Kastos, but, if it still had all its installations, it would be even more impressive. The windmills are evidence that in the past the residents of the island systematically cultivated the land and that they had substantial produce.
