Awakened by the warm wind, males emerge from deep cracks where they have been sleeping in huge bunches all winter. When the maximum number of males appears on the surface at the beginning of May, females appear. You will observe “balls of snakes” when up to 100 males entwine any female they manage to find.<\/p>\n
