Aksu-Zhabagli Nature Reserve is spread over 1,319 square kilometers on the territory bordering Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. It is located on the western tip of the Talas Alatau ridge and rises from the steppes (upland — 1200 m) to Sairam Peak (4239 m). It is most convenient to explore it on horseback. In a three-day tour, you will climb to the 900-year-old petroglyphs. More difficult tracks will take you through the passes at an altitude of 3500 m; you will spend the night in caves.

The reserve is famous for tulips, in April and May the steppe is dotted with bright red Greig tulips. You will see bears, wild mountain goats, argali and golden eagles, and perhaps even a snow leopard.
