Kgalagadi loosely means “land of drought”. Two riverbeds in the park, covering an area of 52,000 square kilometers, are filled with water only once every 10 years. However, this harsh place is rich in nature and animals. In fact, Kgalagadi is a semi-desert savanna. This becomes especially evident when, with the onset of rains in February, the earth transforms and turns into green lands. It is impossible to overestimate the admiration that you will experience when you see how male antelopes fight for a female, and cheetahs and black-maned lions hunt down the victim.
It is easier to get from the South African part of the park. On the way you will see man-made springs where animals gather to drink.
